Looking ahead

I am undertaking a great challenge this year. In June, I will join 300 young adults participating in cross-country bicycle rides to benefit affordable housing. The route I'll be riding will be nothing short of breath taking, and I anticipate the experience to be both eye-opening and rewarding.

In June, our group of 30 will travel from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Vancouver, BC. We'll ride for three months hugging the US-Canada boarder, raising money for affordable housing organizations. One day a week, we will put down our bikes and pick up hammers, constructing affordable housing. Our ride seeks to raise not only money and roofs, but also awareness of the affordable housing crisis.

Each rider will raise $4,500 for the affordable housing cause. This blog has two purposes: 1) to track my fundraising efforts and share my thoughts and musings on physically preparing for a cross-country ride; 2) during the summer I'll update this with photos and written word to let everyone know back home I'm still pedaling for affordable housing!

Thanks Stella Day, for your adventurous and go-get-em' attitude! I can't wait to ride cross-country with you. And thanks to Justin Sandoval and Rithy Khut for making the first two donations!!!

  2. I'm so proud of you for doing this. Biking long-distance in and of itself is a great way to raise awareness to a variety of issues. To add on this element of housing is a stroke of genius. I'm excited to see where this ride/project takes you.
